Restraint


Fall restraint prevents a worker from getting close enough to an edge to fall.

If risk of falling is present, fall restraint shall be used. It is particularly useful at the entrance of a roof.

When using a life line, restraint is not an option and products according to EN 795 A must be used instead.  Roof users, working temporarily, normally walk on multiple roofs and move around their complete surfaces. In such cases, using restraint requires continuous handling which is often not desirable.

Several types of anchors that may only be used for restraint and do not meet the demands for fall protection are available in the market. These anchors can lead to confusion and unsafe situations. It is our advice to use products for fall arrest according to the EN 795 A and be cautious when using products suitable only for restraint.

Fall arrest products are always safer and not always more expensive.
