Description
The PELS VRU rescue and escape mask/hood provides independent respiratory protection, heat protection, and safety in situations of immediate life-threatening danger from smoke, heat, chemicals, or gases, where there is little or no oxygen present. It is a personal escape mask that can be carried with you or kept nearby, allowing for a safe evacuation during an emergency. The small integrated cylinder provides sufficient oxygen for an escape route lasting between five and twenty minutes. The PELS is a fully enclosed hood, and exhaled carbon dioxide is absorbed by the ‘scrubber’.
The PELS hood is made from a laminate of Kapton and Teflon, making it highly heat- and chemical-resistant as well as extremely durable. The transparent material has a light yellow tint for better visibility in smoke and offers a wide field of view. The hood is one-size-fits-all (suitable for children from 12 years old) and the polyurethane rubber neck seal is also suitable for people with beards and glasses.
Having the PELS escape mask available during an emergency or in high-risk situations is highly recommended. It is very easy to put on and to activate the oxygen supply. The PELS VRU escape mask complies with Directive 89/686/EEC.
